STUDI KASUS ANALISIS KEGAGALAN BAUT CONNECTING ROD MESIN DIESEL GENERATOR KAPAL

Kapal laut adalah alat transportasi yang digunakan untuk mengangkut barang-barang baik kebutuhan pokok maupun kebutuhan industri dan juga untuk mengangkut orang-orang serta berfungsi menghubungkan dari satu pulau ke pulau yang lain. Tenaga penggerak kapal pada umumnya adalah mesin diesel sebagai tenaga penggerak utama dengan berbagai variasi mesin diesel. Pada mesin pembakaran dalam (internal combustion engine), salah satu komponen terpenting di dalamnya adalah batang piston (connecting rod). Connecting rod berfungsi menerima tenaga dari piston yang diperoleh dari pembakaran dan meneruskanya ke poros engkol (crank shaft). Pada connecting rod terdapat bolt connecting rod berfungsi untuk merapatkan connecting rod cap yang menghubungkan connecting rod dengan crank shaft. Telah terjadi kegagalan pada bolt connecting rod (patah) pada mesin diesel kapal. Kemudian dilakukan analisa untuk mengetahui penyebab kegagalan bolt connecting rod. Pada proses analisa ini didahului dengan berbagai macam pengujian seperti uji komposisi kimia, uji kekerasan, uji mikrografi, uji makrografi dan uji SEM. Apabila telah ditemukan penyebab kegagalan bolt connecting rod maka akan diberikan rekomendasi agar kejadian tersebut tidak terulang lagi

Abstract

Ships are a means of transportation used to transport goods both basic needs and industrial needs and also to transport people also use transportation from one island to another. Ship propulsion in general is a diesel engine The main driving force with a variety of diesel engines. In an internal combustion engine, one of the most important components in it is the piston rod (connecting rod). The connecting rod is ready to receive power from the piston obtained from combustion and returned to the crankshaft (crankshaft). On the connecting rod there is a bolt connecting the rod used to get the connecting rod connecting the connecting rod with the crankshaft. There has been damage to the bolt connecting the rod (broken) to the diesel engine of the ship. Then an analysis is performed to determine the cause of the failure of the bolt connecting the rod. In this analysis process, preceded by various kinds such as chemical composition tests, trials, micrographic tests, macrographic tests and SEM tests. If the cause of the bolt connecting the stem is found, a recommendation will be given so that the incident does not happen again
